Andor “Andy” Bocskor, 93, 199 McGinnis Road, died January 16, 2013 after a long illness. Mr. Bocskor, a long term resident of the Massena-Waddington area, was born November 18, 1919, in Watertown, N.Y., the son of Louis and Esther Bocskor. At the age of three, his family moved to Hungary. At the outbreak of WW II, his parents sent him and three brothers back to the U.S. Andy was drafted in 1943. In the 6th Amphibious Special Engineers, he fought at Normandy (D-Day), through France (the Battle of the Bulge) and Belgium. Honorably discharged in 1945, Andy received three Bronze Stars, a Bronze Arrowhead, a Ruptured Duck and numerous decorations. Margaret Kormanyos and Andy wed at St. Mary’s Church, Massena, on Aug. 9, 1941. Married for 71 years, they raised three sons and one daughter. For 43 1/2 years, Andy worked for Alcoa, retiring in 1982, when he moved with Margaret from Massena to Waddington. Mr. Bocskor was a proud member of the American Legion Post #79, Am Vets Post #4 and the VFW Post #1143. He also served proudly as Greeter and Usher at the United Methodist Church in Waddington. A “rock hound” for many years, he and Margaret traveled the U.S. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; sons Andy and his companion, Shirley Lajoie, Waddington; John and wife So’o, Hawaii; Steven and wife Kathy, Millersville, Md.; daughter Barbara Orobona and husband Joseph, Clayton, N.Y.; brother Viktor and wife Elizabeth, Ukci, Hungary; brother-in-law John Kormanyos, Massena, sisters-in-law Dolly Kormanyos, Massena, Helen Dart, Texas, Betty Bocskor, Florida, and Margie Bocskor, Florida; nagypapa to 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
