Barkley-Richey; daughter, Michelle (Christopher) Shaw; son, Chad (Jennifer) Richey; his adoring grandchildren, Austin, Brendyn and Gianna Shaw and Autumn Richey; sister, Gerri (Jerry) Layo; brother-in-law, James Barkley; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion Cassie. Predeceased by his father, Vella E. Sr.; mother, Theresa and brother, Harold all of Massena, NY. A father in-law John Barkley Sr. and mother in-law Arlene Barkley Besaw, and a Brother in-law John Barkley Jr. Vella retired from GM after 31 years of service, also a member of the Conservation Club of Brockport and Rochester Bass Masters. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the Church of the Sacred Heart at 12:00 Noon, the memorial service will coincide with their 42nd wedding anniversary. A luncheon will be to follow at the American Legion Post # 79 in Massena. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be sent to Rochester Rotary Charitable Trust, 180 Linden Oaks, Suite 200, Rochester, NY 14625 to benefit the Rotary Sunshine Camp.
