Erwin Date: October 18, 1934 - April 16, 2012 Obituary: Barbara A Erwin, 77 of North Syracuse, NY formerly of Madrid died Monday afternoon (April16, 2012) at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Family and friends are invited to call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid. A Mass of resurrection will be held Saturday 1:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church with Rev. Msgr Robert Lawler presiding. Interment will be in the family plot in Madrid Cemetery. At the family request memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. Surviving Barbara are her children, Susan and husband Anthony Labatos of Orlando, FL, Rose Mary and husband Lee Hunter of Syracuse with whom Barbara resided with, Laurie Erwin of North Syracuse, NY, Lloyd "Butch" and Laurie Erwin of Syracuse, also six grandchildren: Angela, Heather, Nicole, Kristina, Carrie, Eudi, great grandchildren, Ryan, Liesel, Alice, sisters, Phyllis Merkley of Norwood, Jane and husband Patrick Portolese of Massena, a brother, Dr. Allen and his wife Joan Welch of Waddington, Richard and wife Phyllis Welch of St. Petersburg, FL, several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by a sister Carol Moore and a brother Arnold " Joe" Welch. Barbara was born October 18, 1934 in Hermon, NY the daughter of the late Arnold and Rose (Gilbo) Welch. Barbara was united in marriage to Lloyd Erwin on July 11, 1953 at St. John the Baptist Church, Madrid. Lloyd died May 8, 2005.
