Frank D.Catanzarite, 88, Fairport, NY, formerly of W. Hatfield St., Massena, will be Tuesday 10:00 am, January 12, 2010 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding.Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Friends and family may call on Monday, January 11, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St., Massena. Frank passed away January 8, 2010 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. Among his survivors are his wife Patricia of Fairport and 5 children: Paul F.(Sharon), Stafford, VA; Cathy (Peter) Medina, Macedon; Anne M. Catanzarite, Washington, DC; Frank J. (Carol), Lakeland, FL; and Louise (Rich) Mauger, Fairport, NY. Also 11 grandchildren: Mia Medina (Eric) Mueller, Marty (Tina) Medina and Rico (Terri) Medina, all of Macedon; Laura Catanzarite (Rick) Fry and Amy Catanzarite (Juan) Seguin of VA; Paul (Stephanie) Catanzarite, Jr., PA; Rachel Catanzarite, Washington; Joshua (Lindsey) Catanzarite, IN; Zachary Catanzarite, NYC; Jesse Caster, Rochester; and Jillian Caster, Washington and 11 great-grandchildren: Alina and Noah Mueller; Luke Medina; Marin Medina; Max, Ana and Elsa Fry; Erica and Elena Catanzarite; Sawyer Catanzarite; and Sonya Dennehy-Caster. He is also survived by a brother, Theodore Catanzarite of Rhode Island; 3 sisters, Phoebe Gauthier (Cameron) of Canton, Frances (Lyle) Robson of Roaoke, Va., Lucia (Leon) Johnson of Massena and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was preceeded by his parents and brothers Antonio, in 1999 and Joseph in infancy. Frank was born February 2, 1921 in Montreal, Quebec the son Dominick and Caterina (Romeo) Catanzarite. He graduated from Massena Central High School in 1938 where he played baseball, hockey and football (inducted into the Massena Hall of Fame). He and Patricia J. Sequin were married on October 16, 1944 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Gerald Kellogg presiding. Frank was an accounting supervisor, retiring in 1975 after 35 years of employment at Alcoa. His community involvement included the Knights of Columbus (a number of years as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary); Meals on Wheels Volunteer and Officer; advocate/committee for Massena Municipal Electric; Italian American Club, Massena Country Club, and Sacred Heart School Board. Frank enjoyed his large extended family, golfing, many winters in Florida and following the sports and activities of his kids, grandkids and greatgrandkids.
