Name: John B. Higgins Date: December 27, 1924 - December 31, 2009 Obituary: John B Higgins, 86 of Kathleen St, Massena passed away peacefully at his home Thursday afternoon ( December 31, 2009). Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home,Massena, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment with full military honors will be held in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Mooers,NY. Mr. Higgins is survived by his wife of 59 yrs Theresa, a daughter, Nancy Higgins of West Point, NY., three grandchildren; Heather Faubert, Hayley Kairewich and Christopher Faubert, five great grandchildren., a brother Clifford Higgins of Mooers, NY. , several nieces and nephews. A daughter Cheryl Faubert died in 2009. Mr. Higgins was born December 27, 1924 in Mooers, NY the son of Edward and Edna ( Simpson) Higgins. He served in the U S Navy form 1942 to 1946, Married the former Theresa LaBier May 21, 1950 at St Joseph's Church, Mooers,NY. Following his discharge he was employed at Alcoa from 1950 to 1958. He entered employment at the New York Power Authority in 1958. He retired in 1984 as a Senior Operator . He was a member of the IBEW, a member of the Veterans Foreign Wars # 1143, the Massena Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. # 1702. He enjoyed watching sports and at one time playing golf. The Elks Lodge will hold Memorial Services Tuesday evening at 7:15 pm. The VFW # 11343 will hold services for Mr Higgins Tuesday evening 7:45 pm. At the family's request memorials may be made to St. Judes Hospital.
