Obituary:
Funeral services for Joseph J. LaClair,81 of Douglas Rd .Massena will be Tuesday 12 noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Joseph J. LaClair passed away Friday morning ( December 25, 2009) at Crouse-Irving Hospital, Syracuse. Surviving Joseph J. LaClair is his loving wife Bettie and their five loving children, Dr. Thomas (Jane) LaClair , Syracuse, Joseph (Arla) LaClair, Netrona Heights, PA. Susan LaClair ,Marblehead,MA , Timothy LaClair,Massena, and Janet (John) Drescher,Fayetteville;14 grandchildren,Eric, Mark, Brian, Katie, Tommy, Colin, Emily, Ben, Nyssa, Abby, Adam, Anna, Andy, and Alex and six great grandchildren. Born August 9, 1928 in Massena the son of Joseph and Mary( Barry) LaClair. Joe was a devoted and loving husband,father, grandfather,great grandfather and friend whose quiet sense of humor brought smiles and laughs to many. A 1946 graduate of Massena High School and he served in the US Army from 1946-1948. He married Bettie Perkins August 13, 1949 in Massena and they just celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary this past summer.He was employed at Alcoa for 36 yrs before retiring as an Operating Engineer in 1983. He was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club. Over the years he was involved in the Massena Minor Hockey Association, the American Legion Post # 79, and a member of the Massena Country Club.Joe truly loved playing golf with family and friends along the St. Lawrence River and at many other locations including Shenvalee,VA and Myrtle Beach,SC. He was an avid reader who read three newspapers everyday from cover to cover. At the family's reguest memorials may be made to Trinity Catholic Endowment Fund or the Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation. Funeral services for Joseph J.
