Funeral services for Patricia A. Plourde, 70, of 25 Malby Ave. Massena, NY will be held Friday at 10:00 am at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena.

Pat passed away on Monday June  1, 2009, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Richard of Massena a son and daughter in-law, Jeffrey and Denise Plourde of Marquette, MI. Two grandchildren, Randall and Nicholas Plourde of Marquette, MI. A sister Marjorie Ori of Massena. A brother Robert Fleury of Westville. Numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Bernadette Premo Smith and three brothers, Roland, Douglas and Wayne Fleury.

Born August 31, 1938 in Westville, NY, the daughter of Clarence  and Phoebe (Charette) Fleury.

She married Richard Plourde on November 19, 1960 in Constable.

She went to Ogdensburg Business school after graduation.

She worked for Spear Insurance Agency as a fire insurance underwriter.

She  was a member of the Massena Senior Citizens, and a communicant of St. Jospeh's Church.

Pat loved to go to garage sales and craft sales. S

he epically loved her Scottish Terrier "Riley".

She loved animals of all kinds, having numerous pets over the years. She enjoyed going to camp in Hannawa Falls and spending time with her family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Massena Humane Society or Massena Rescue Squad.

Allen J. Benn Sr.


Funeral services for Allen J. Benn Sr., 91, formerly of 12 Plum St. Massena, NY will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena with Pastor Judith VanKennen presiding.  Burial will be in Bixby Cemetery in Norfolk.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Friday at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena.

Allen peacefully passed away on Tuesday June  2, 2009, at St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, NY.

He is survived by his children Sue and husband David Ellis of Massena, N.Y, and a son Allen J. Jr. and wife Karen Benn, of Waddington, NY. Grandchildren, Shawn and Joey Benn of Michigan, Sarah Ellis and partner Gregory Smith of Chase Mills, James Ellis and partner Scott Olszewski of Albany. Great grandchildren, Mason Alexander Smith of Chase Mills, and soon to be born a great grandson Benn. A brother in -law Charles Garlough and a sister in-law Sheila Benn. Several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Marjorie Martin, Irene Jacque, Beatrice Tuper and three brothers, Raymond Benn, James Benn and William Benn.

Allen was born November 10, 1917 in St. Agnes, Que. the son of George and  Anna (Ghostlaw) Benn.

He married Rosetta Page on August 29, 1942 at the First United Methodist Church in Massena.

Mrs. Benn predeceased him on November 5, 2000.

He  worked for Alcoa as a Crane Operator for over 40years.

He was a member of the 25 year club at Alcoa.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife.

He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and his grandchildren and great grandchild.

Linda passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT surrounded by her family.   

She is survived by her mother, Ramona Mason of Waddington, NY.  Daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Larry Burns of Waddington, NY.  Sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Missy Hough  of Waddington, NY; Scott and Michelle Hough of Waddington, NY.  Sister, Beleinda Telep of Suprise, AZ. Brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Monika Bohleber of Germany.  Grandchildren, Raymond and Stephen Burns; Josh and MaKenzie Hough; Danielle Hough all of Waddington, NY. 

Linda was predeceased by her loving husband, Darryl Hough in 2000 and her father, Frederick Bohleber. 

She married Darryl Hough on April 7, 1962 in Bayshore, NY .

In her free time, Linda loved to watch Wheel of Fortune  and game shows, crochet,  and going to her grandchildren's sporting events. 

She loved to mow and do the outdoor maintenance around the house. 

Linda was a caregiver to the Miller Boy's and her grandchildren and always had a house full of family and friends.    

She will always be known as the "Queen of the Laundry" to many in the Waddington area.

Chad passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning (May 30, 2009), in Portsmouth, England. He is survived by his mother and step father; Lisa and Lynn Furnace of Norfolk, NY, his father Harry G. Comins of Norfolk, maternal grandparents, Leonard and Marie (Julius) Kerr of Louisville, step paternal grandparents, Charles and June Furnace of Massena, four sisters and three brothers: Jonathan Wendt of Norfolk, Andrew and Nicholas Comins of Norfolk, NY. Lyndsi Comins of Binghamton, NY, Brynn, Alisabeth GraceFurnace  of Norfolk, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Chad was born March  8, 1978 in Potsdam, NY, the son of  Harry Comins and Lisa (Kerr)  Furnace.

He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School in 1996 where he lettered in Track.

He was active in the Drama Club. He was in the Belairs singing group. He was a member of the Whiz Quiz, and had many leading roles in the school musicals.

He attended Clarkson College and graduated from Plattsburgh State with a BS in English Literature, he then returned to Clarkson where he received his BS in Physics.

He was employed as a sales representative of Verizon Wireless in Ogdensburg.

He had traveled to Portsmouth, England earlier this May to seek employment.

Funeral services for Richard A. LaCombe, 65, of Drexel, NC will be held Saturday 10:00 am (June 20, 2009 ) at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Michael J. Gaffney presiding. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Massena.

Friends may call at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena starting at 9:00 am until the time of services.

Mr. LaCombe died  (February 21, 2009), at the Autumn Care Facility in Drexel, NC after a long illnes.

He is survived by his mother, Madeline LaCombe of Massena, a brother, Norman and wife Betty LaCombe of Tulsa, OK, a sister  Pamelia and husband David Luke of Granite Falls, NC. Several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard A. LaCombe was born June 14, 1943 in Potsdam, NY, the son of Norman and Madeline (Marion) LaCombe.

A graduate of Massena High School and Oswego State Teachers College.

Before his military service he was a teacher in Cape Vincent.  He served in the US Army Infantry from 1969 to 1972 earning the rank of Captain.

He retired from Fremmont Indeminity of California as vice president of claims.


 

 

Dennis James Martin


Funeral services for Dennis James Martin, 48 of County Route 36, Norfolk will be Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Church in Louisville with Rev. Bernard Menard presiding.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Norfolk.

Mr. Martin passed away at his home.

Dennis is survived by his parents, Richard M. and Sally M. Martin of Louisville. His children, Teri Jo Martin of Massena, and Amy Degagne of Massena. Brothers and sister Terry and wife Vicki Martin of Louisville, Timothy and Chrissy Martin of Waddington, Donna Martin and Brian Woods of Louisville, Matthew Martin and Cathy Smith of Louisville. Numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Richard Lyle Martin in 1976.

Born on January 16, 1961 in Massena, NY the son of Richard M. and Sally (White) Martin.

He was employed as a scuba diver/carpenter for J.W. Dive Service.

Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, diving.

He enjoyed cook outs and barbeque and spending time with his family.

He loved all of what mother nature had to offer.

Carol passed away peacefully on Monday morning June 22, 2009, at St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, NY.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Derek (Karen ) Raymo of Norfolk, N.Y. Roxanne Phillips of Massena, N.Y. Four grandchildren,  a grt grandchild.  Several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Moses Richie who died in 1987.

Born July 27, 1943 in Opollo, PA, the daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Heart) Pierce.

She married Laurence Dumas on August 24, 1989 at St. Joseph Church in Bombay.

She was predeceased by her husband.

She enjoyed crafts and playing bingo.

Mrs. Grinstead passed away on the morning of June 25, 2009 at her home under the Loving care of her family and Hospice. 

Lucille is survived by her son, and daughter-in-law,  William and Demetra Smith of North Bangor.  Daughter, Paula, a resident of the United Helpers Home in  Heulvelton, NY.  Granddaughter, Danielle Smith of Prosperity, SC.  Sisters and brother-in-law, Theresa Sharp; Louise and Bob Fowler both of Massena, NY; Rita Guilbert of Las Vegas, NV.  Brothers and sisters-in-law, Conrad and Marie Guilbert and Julian and Nancy Guilbert both of Massena, NY.  Several nieces and nephews. 

Lucille was born on March 19, 1935 the daughter of the late Real and Aline Marion Guilbert in Massena, NY.  She attended Local Schools. 

Lucille married William Smith on May 12, 1952 in Louisville, NY.  William predeceased her on July 15, 1979. 

She married Robert Grinstead on October 14, 2000 and he predeceased her on July 11, 2005. 

Lucille was a well known waitress in the Massena area. 

She worked form any years at Violi's and the Village Inn. 

Lucille was also predeceased by her sisters, Claire Premo, Jean Falvo and Annette Carbone.

She was also predeceased by her Brother, Reginald Guilbert.

Jane passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 30, 2009 at the St. Regis Nursing Home.

She is survived by a step daughter Patricia and husband Raymond Chagnon of Massena. Step-grandchildren, Andrew Chagnon, Lisa Chagnon McKeel, Paula McGowan Fisher, Kevin McGowan, Kenneth McGowan,  Michelle Dowe, Joelle Dowe, Frank Cuzzocrea Jr. and Patrick Barber. Step-great grandchildren, Benjamin Chagnon, Christopher Chagnon, Kristen, Stephanie and Nicholas McKeel, Bailey, Ryan, Jake McGowan, Aaron and Sarah Fisher, Megan and Morgan McGowan. A brother, Gordon Arquitte and sisters C. Ethel Chapman and Pearl Brothers. Many nieces, nephews.

She was predeceased by a step son Joel Dowe, on November 25, 2002,  and step daughter Joan McGowan Cuzzocrea on June 20, 1997.

She was predeceased by six brothers, Simeon, Elihu, Ellis, Earl, Carl, Frank. A sister Carol Baxter.

Born October  3, 1927 in Louisville, NY, the daughter of  Heman and  Winnie (Ellis) Arquitte. She graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School in 1945 and Ogdensburg School of Business in 1946.

She married Joseph Harold Dowe on August 28, 1959. Mr. Dowe predeceased her on March 24, 2000.

At one time she worked at Alcoa, Bendix Aviation, Massena Memorial Hospital and Orchard Paper Company.

She was a member of St. Raymond's Church and belonged to Altar and Rosary Society at St. Raymond's. Former member of Royal Neighbors, Norfolk Women's Democrat Club and Norwood Couples Sunday Night Bowling League. 

She was Assessor for Town of Norfolk and original Chairman of Board of Assessment Review.

She enjoyed sewing and knitting for step-grandchildren, crocheting afghans, flower  gardening and walking.

In 1995, she and her husband donated 4.27 acres to the Town of Norfolk for use with existing Rovers Ball Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Raymond's Church, Norfolk Fire Department or Norfolk Rescue Squad.
