Funeral services for Diana L. St. Louis, 51, of 92 1/2 Woodlawn Ave. Massena, NY will be held Monday January 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Phillips Memorial Home  in Massena. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be held December 5, 2008 from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral.

Diana went to be with her Lord Thursday January 1, 2009, at Massena Memorial Hospital in after being stricken with cardiac arrest at home.

She is survived by husband Carroll, her children, Mark and wife Jayme Monacelli, Christopher Monacelli and companion Angie and Kimberly St. Louis all of Massena. 10 grandchildren. Sisters, Linda and husband Donald Morrell and Bonnie and husband Dale Kellogg both of Massena, N.Y. Three   brothers, Joseph and wife Patty Pidgeon of Red Creek, N.Y., Steven and wife Crystal Monacelli and Larry and wife Pam Monacelli both of Massena, N.Y. Many nieces and nephews.

Diana was born October 12, 1957 in Massena, the daughter of Joseph and  Gertrude (Beaudoin) Monacelli Pidgeon.

She graduated from Massena High School.

She married Carroll St. Louis on August 3, 1980 in Massena.

She was employed at Ames Department Store as a manager in the craft department, until she became disabled.

Diana enjoyed doing crafts, playing bingo and being with her grandchildren.

James Earl Condlin


James Earl (Jimmy) Condlin died at his home on Monday, January 5th, 2009 at the age of 95.

The family will receive family and friends at Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington, NY on Thursday evening from 6-9 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in the early summer.

He was born June 23, 1913 in Sydney, Novia Scotia, son of James Edward and Marie Condlin.

He was a life long resident of Waddington, New York and attended grade school and graduated High School in Waddington.

He married Elizabeth Frances O'Brien on April 30, 1941 in Brooklyn New York and the couple raised five children together.

He was self employed and ran several successful small businesses in the town of Waddington.

He was the co-owner of Condlin Brother's Plumbing and Heating and owner of a launder mat and two grocery stores.

He also worked for the United States Postal Service for many years.

Mr. Condlin worked as a general handyman well into his eighties and enjoyed an active and healthy life until shortly before his death.

He was a Charter member of the St. Mary's Knights of Columbus for fifty years and a life long member of the Waddington Fish and Game Club and active in many community projects.

Mr. Condlin is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his sister, Jane Burke, his daughter Grace and husband George Mattern of Phenix City Alabama and his daughter-in-law, Hilde Condlin of Schweinfurt, Germany. He is also survived by three sons, John and his wife Tina of Maui, Hawaii, Charles and his wife Mary of Austin, Texas, and Richard of Waddington. He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed!

He was pre-deceased by his son, James Condlin, his grandson, David Mattern and his brother, Charles Condlin.

Private funeral services for Bertha M. Olson, 76, of 363 LaRue Road Massena, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St Lawrence Valley.

Bertha went to be with her Lord Thursday January 8, 2009, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice.

She is survived by three sons, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, a step brother Many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two infant children, Timmy and Cindy.

Born September 2,1932 in Massena, NY, the daughter of Louis and Freida (Queor) Neverette.

She married Elvin Olson on June 30, 1957. Mr. Olson predeceased her in 2006.

At one time she worked as a cashier at M.H. Fishman's Store for 13 years.

She also was employed as sales clerk at the Boston Store, Hart Haven Center and in 1980 she was the proprietor of the B&B Dinner in Massena, and later working at Tim Horton's Donut Shop and various restaurants.

She also worked at Spragues Restaurant as a cook.

Bertha was an avid bingo player.

Funeral services for Elizabeth M. Burditt, 83 formerly of 743 Salmom St, Ft. Covington will be held Wednesday (January 14, 2009) 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, Hogansburg with Rev. Jerry Bleaux presiding. Interment will in St Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Covington in the spring.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday (Jan 13,2009) from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Surviving Elizabeth M. Burditt is a daughter and three sons, Deborah P. of Massena, Harold J. of Waddington; Kenneth D. and wife  Beth of Schenectady; Ronald J. and wife Kathy of Westville, four grandchildren three grt grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by by three sisters: Bella Smith, Kathryn Cunningham, Evelyn Ghostlaw, seven brothers: Benjamin, Charles, Howard, Kenneth, Vernon, Lyle and Herman Ghostlaw.

Born May 30, 1925 in Ft. Covington the daughter of James and Mae ( Mayville) Ghostlaw.

She married Donald E. Burditt on November 4, 1946 at St. Mary's Church in Ft Covington, by the Rev. Robert DuFord.

Mr. Burditt predeceased her March 11, 2008.

She was a cafeteria worker at Salmon River School for many years.

She was a member of the Fort Covington Grange and a communicant of St Patrick's Church, Hogansburg.

Memorials may be made to Double H. Hole in the Woods Camp, 97 Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 or the Activity Fund at the St. Regis Nursing Home.

Mr. White died Friday evening ( Jan 9, 2009) at his home under the loving care of family and Hospice Care.

 

Surviving William R. White is his wife of nearly 62 yrs, Julia ( Tillie) , a son and six daughters: William R. and companion Beth Cole, Norfolk, NY; Deborah L. White, Hopkinton; Elana M. and Dan Hall, Troy; Laurie W. and Douglas Bedient, Gerry, NY; Nancy A. and Dr. Robert Morse, Las
Vegas, NV; Julie E. and Steve Nack, Ghent, NY; Maryjane and Michael Toomey, Hopkinton, NY, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild: Danial, Jonathan and Benjamin Hall; Andrew and Rachel Morse; Rebecca and Michaela Toomey; Ashley, Lindsey and Hailey White; Abbegail Nack, Chayse Nichols. a brother; Louis White of Krinkill, NY, two
sisters: Lillian Dockum. Raleigh, NC; Sally Curtis, Winthrop. NY.  four brothers and a sister predeceased : Albert, Steven, John, Francis and Margarite (sp) Hannahs predeceased.

 

Mr. White  was born June 24, 1925 in Massena, NY, the son of Louis and
Lillian (Bancroft) White.

 

He attended local schools. Served in the US Army during
WWII from 1943 to 1946.

 

He was a member of the Carpenters' Union Local# 278.

 

Married to Julia Stuz on May 31, 1947 at the Church of the Sacred heart with Rev. Lawrence Brady presiding.

 

He entered employment at Alcoa in 1953 retiring in 1987.

 

He was in Repair and Maintenance Department. He also was the owner of Bill White's Builder construction and was well known for his work.

 

He was a member of the 25 Yr Club at Alcoa, A past member of the Loylal Order of the Moose Lodge.

 

Member of the the VFW# 1143, they will hold a memorial service Tuesday evening 6:30 pm at the funeral home.

 

The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department will pay their respects on behalf of Mr. White's son Tuesday at 6:50 PM at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contribution can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, the Richard E. Winters Cancer Center, or Trinity Catholic Endowment fund.

Mildred went to be with her Lord Friday January 9, 2009, at Highland Nursing Home in Massena, NY.

Mildred was born December 19, 1912 in Helena, NY, the daughter of Moses Wibur and Sarah Catherine (Powell) Yaddow.

She graduated from Helena Union School, St. Joseph's Academy in Brasher Falls, and Cornwall Commercial College.

She married Milford Wyman of Ottawa, and after Mr. Wyman's death she married Harland Horton of Massena.

During Mrs. Horton's lifetime, she worked at Warner's Corset Factory in Massena and as a salesclerk in various local stores in the Helena area.

Mrs. Fournier went to be with her Lord Sunday ( January 11,2009) surrounded by her family and Hospice care at the Massena Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Dec 24, 2008.

Surviving Maxine R. Fournier are three daughters and three sons: Robert M. and wife Lorretta ( Lorri) , Roger and wife Lynn Fournier both of Massena; Larry and wife Catherine of Constania, NY; Mrs. William ( Patricia) Dixon of Central Square; Gloria Bucklin of Chittenango; Mrs Craig ( Suzanne) Williamson. 23 grandchildren 27 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild a brother: Floyd "Bucky" Summers, Ottawa, Ont a sister Carol Farr-Summers, Carleton. Ont.

Born March 3, 1921 in Winchester, Ontario the daughter of Osborne and Sadie (Robertson) Summers.

Married Laurenzo ( Skeezix) Fournier April 20, 1940 at the Church of the Sacred Heart by Rev. Horton.

Mr. Fournier predeceased her on December 30,1975.

Mrs. Fournier was employed by Homestead Dairies for 26 yrs as a bookkeeper and clerk retiring in 1983.

She had resided in Grasmere Terrace until recently entering the nursing home and previously had resided on Grant St.

Mrs. Fournier enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Phyllis went to be with her Lord Thursday January 15, 2009, at Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena, NY.

She is survived by a brother and half brother, Robert Fiacco of Ocala, FL, and Gene Mangino of Mt. Clemens, Mich., two sister in laws: Linda Fiacco of Massena, Virginia Fiacco of Scottsdale, Az., many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers and two half-brothers: James, Augustus and Gerald Fiacco, Fred and Harry Mangino.

Phyllis was born February 3,1933 in Massena, NY, the daughter of Augustus and Josephine (Romeo) Fiacco.

She graduated from Massena High School. She was a member of the Order of Servants of Mary in Omaha, Neb for 23 yrs.

She taught at Bear Hill Correctional Facility for eight years prior to retiring.

Phyllis enjoyed sewing, traveling and spending time with her family.

Shirley went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Massena Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Arthur Neal. Sons, Randy Neal of Massena, NY and Danny Neal of Seattle, Washington.  Brother, Lloyd Neal of Waddington, NY.  Sisters and brother-in-law,  Rayona Clough of Massena, NY and Ruby and Larry  Miller of Whitney Point, NY.  Her Grandchildren whom she loved very much, Ashley Neal and Michael Neal both of Massena, NY.   Sister-in-law, Beverly Neal of Massena, NY and brother-in-law, Robert and Aileen Neal of Massena, NY.  Several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born on July 7, 1934 in  Ogdensburg, NY to the late Albert and Myrtle (Raymo) Besaw. 

She was also predeceased by her son, Kevin Neal in 1997. 

Shirley married Arthur Neal on December 11, 1951 in San Marcos, Texas. 

She went to work as a waitress for the Gateway Restaurant in Lake Placid and later went to work at the Massena Dairy Bar.

Mrs. Neal also worked in the cafeteria at Holy Family School.  

Shirley was an avid bowler and she loved her New York Yankees.  But most importantly, Shirley will always cherish the time she spent with her family and especially her grandchildren. 

Donations may be directed to the Massena Humane Society in Shirley's memory.

Julia Savoca Boyer, died Thursday, January 15, 2008, at Amerisist Assisted Living, Louisa.

She was born January 1, 1916 in Linguagloss-Cantina Sicilia, Italy to the late Peter and Pauline Savoca.

Mrs. Boyer made her home in Rockville, Maryland and had worked for "Bank of Bethesda" which is now Sun Trust Bank.

She was a member of Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Rockville Senior Associates, Young at Heart and Sons of Italy.

She enjoyed Gardening.

She leaves to cherish her memory Sons; Peter Anthony Boyer and his wife Alice; George James Boyer and his wife Debbie; Grandchildren; Marilyn Pecson, Jason Boyer and his wife Amanda, Kelley Boyer and Mark Boyer; Great-Grandchildren; Benjamin and HunterPecson. Her sisters; Patricia McGrath, Angeline Frehse, Pauline Schuck and Mary Mattingly and Brother; Tony Savoca.

Donald Manfred officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Massena.

Alice went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the United Hospital in St. Paul Minnesota.

Alice is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Ann and Ronald Sapieszko of Woodbury, MN. A granddaughter Lisa Sapieszko of Woodbury, MN. Two sisters, Therese O'Connor of Bradenton, Fl., Louise Giroux of Massena. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Jean LePage.

Alice was born August 19, 1916 in Ottawa, Ontario, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Elzire (Charbonneau) LePage.

She moved to Massena in April of 1923. Alice graduated from Massena High School in 1934.

She married Lewis John Hiter on June 27,1936 at the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Mr. Hiter predeceased her on February 7, 2001.

In June of 2004, Alice moved to Minnesota to be near her daughter and her family.

She worked for the Massena School District, Alcoa, the State of New York, and retired from the Massena Memorial Hospital, Medical Records Department in 1978.

She was a member of the Massena Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Massena Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crossword puzzles and Bingo.

She also loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Massena Rescue Squad, or a charity of one's choice in Alice's memory.

He is survived by his children: Christopher and his wife Leslie Ann Brown of Norwood, Ricky Heath of Brasher Iron Works, NY Robin Haywood and Corey Compeau of Norfolk, Tara Planty of Massena, NY, and Jerry Dibble of Potsdam, NY. Brother and sister-in-law, Timothy A. and Peggy Brown of Norwood. Sister, Vicky Brown of Potsdam. Father, Richard LaComb of Massena. Companion of 13 years, Victoria French of Norfolk, NY. Granddaughter, Makayla M. Brown of Norwood, NY. Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and nephews.

Ricky was born September 15, 1955 in Massena, NY the son of the late Bernard and Doris M.(Daggett) Brown.

He graduated from Massena Central High School. He was a Union truck driver for the Teamsters Local 687 in Potsdam, NY.

Mr. Brown drove truck for Homestead Dairy's, Alex's Ice House but Ricky was currently Driving Truck at Perras Excavating.

He was a past member of the Massena Rescue Squad were he dedicated 15 years of service.

Ricky enjoyed the outdoors.

He loved to hunt, fish, camp, four-wheel and play softball.

He was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan.

Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, children and granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Massena Rescue Squad, The American Diabetes Association or to a charity of ones choice.

Mr. Violi died Thursday evening  (January 29, 2009), at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT. where he had been a patient since January 20, 2009.

Surviving Thomas D. Violi are two sons and four daughters: Daniel J. and daughter in law Cathy of Newton  Highland, Ma, Robert D. of Massena, Donna M. Peck of Richmond,Va, Deborah A. Joly of Syracuse, Mrs Charles ( Phyllis) E. Clifford of Rome, NY, Mrs Paul ( Mary) K. Violi-Smith of Hollywood, Fl.  eight grandchildren, 3 grt grandchildren.

Mr. Violi was born September 5, 1925 in Massena, NY, the son of  Joseph and Mary (Romeo) Violi.

He served in the US Army from April 1946 until Oct 1947.

He was married to Barbara Devitt  February  5, 1949 at the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Mrs Violi died October 15, 2001.

He  worked for New York Power Authority as a clerk for many years, previously Mr. Violi was employed for the St Lawrence City Highway Department.

At one time he had owned Violi's Shoe Repair in downtown Massena for many years that had been founded by his late father.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter:Leland and wife Irene of Waddington, James and wife Pearl and Mrs Scott ( Cathy) Shoen all of Waddington. nine grandchildren: Angela, Jamie, Christie, Gregory, Luke, Lucy, Kelsey.Abbey,Quinn and three grt grandchildren: Ethan, Jacob, Olivia.

She predeceased by a son John F. 1978. also by  three sisters: and four brothers: Stella Craig, Mary Sharpe, Helen Myers, Kenneth, Milton, Clifford and Jack Phillips.

Mrs. Oshier was born May 9,1921 in Waddington, NY, the daughter of Eli and Emma (Pemberton) Phillips.

She was married to Benson Oshier on April 3,1948 at St. Mary's Church Rectory by Rev Edwin Pierce.

Mr. Oshier died August 8, 1970.

She was a past member of the Waddington Grange.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, bird watching and attending the annual Waddington Blue Water Regatta .
