leonard, Marie, Martha and families, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Pat was one of the greatest guys I knew. Whenever I saw him he always had a great smile and a hug. We would talk and catch up. It was always so good to see him. My parents loved his visits too when he came to bring them syrup each spring. He will be missed by all of us. I am sure he has a special place next to our LOrd. God bless you all. If I can help in any way please let me know. Love, Sue

Things I'll always remember about Pat: His larger than life laugh; his kindness towards my Mom when she needed help; his love of life; his devotion and love for his wife and daughters; his help finding Santa Claus to attend our family parties; the image of he and my Dad sitting all cozy with their beers by the wood stove on a Halloween visit. Pat was a truly "good guy" in every sense of the word. Heaven's doors swung wide open for him on October 18, that I am sure. Martha - you will always have my friendship and support. I promise you, there will be laughter again, but for now-let us join you in mourning Pat. Love you all, Jean C.

Bird, A dear friend, fellow rider, and my kids Santa. It is not often you know a man bigger than life. Once you met Bird you truly never forgot him and never will. I and my family are deeply sorry for the taking of such a hearth of a man so soon. I pray soon you will able to smile and enjoy the good thoughts and those wonderful insights that you could only get from him. This poem comes to mind: "My heart is in the highlands" by Robert Burns. My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here, My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer - A-chasing the wild deer, and following the roe; My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go. Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North The birth place of Valour, the country of Worth; Wherever I wander, wherever I rove, The hills of the Highlands for ever I love. Farewell to the mountains high cover'd with snow; Farewell to the straths and green valleys below; Farewell to the forrests and wild-hanging woods; Farwell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods. My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here, My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer Chasing the wild deer, and following the roe; My heart's in the Highlands, whereever I go. Slan go foill! Bye for now my friend.

Not much drags me back to the computer to write anymore. We are all busy with our day-to-day lives. The neighbors, family, friends, and co-workers we greet daily, weekly move through our lives as we move through theirs. Sometimes, we don’t realize what a gift some people are to the world, we don’t know how precious those in our lives are. I am moved to my computer today. Today the Kerr family and the town of Louisville lost a man who was one of those rare “birds”, a family man, a kind, gentle human being the likes of which you don’t meet every day. “Big bird” as he was affectionately known, helped his quiet, unassuming wife, Martha raise their two wonderful and beautiful daughters. Girls I have had the pleasure of watching grow over the years into the women they are today. Girls I have watched Pat speak of with a sparkle of love in his eyes. How does one say “good bye” to someone like Pat; a man who was always there with a smile, a wave, a helping hand? In a world where we don’t always know our neighbors, don’t always smile or speak to those who might daily walk by our houses Pat was an exception. Pat, Martha and their dogs walked the neighborhood often, the girls, when they were around, jogged those same paths. I can picture him now, with his walking stick sometimes carrying a dog sometimes not. Pat’s smile was always at the ready, someone who could cheer you up with a phrase- I don’t if he greeted anyone else with the same phrase that he greeted me with, but it somehow stuck over the years. No matter where I may have encountered Pat it was always the same, something to be counted on in a world where nothing it seems can be counted on. I hope he knows, I hope he is looking down knowing how many people are thinking of him, are grieving at the terrific loss of him. Personally, I know I will forever miss Pat, as I have others from this town I have grown to love. I will forever miss our greeting, “Hidey ho, neighbor” and the smile and wave that always accompanied it, always, without fail. His loss will be felt by me and by many others whose life Pat touched, for a long time to come. Good bye, neighbor, you will be missed. Paula & Kevin Beattie

I am so sorry to your entire family for this tragic loss. I have been blessed to know and love your family for the vast majority of my life so far. It’s not hard to see why Jenn and Jaime are the amazing women that they are. Along with you Martha, Pat made one of my best friends, Jenn, a genuinely caring and kind person just as he was. Thinking back on all of those years, I have so many fond memories involving Mr. Kerr. He always had a smile on his face and it was infectious to those around him. He was a truly great man and I’m sure he is smiling down from heaven. I know that I will forever miss him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Alison (Fregoe) Donohue

To the entire Kerr family, Words cannot express our sadness from this terrible accident. Our families go way back and we have gotten to know each of you very well. Pat always had a big smile and always had time to chat with us when ever we saw him. He will be greatly missed. GOD bless you all..

I wish you all the strength to get thru this diffulcult time. I never knew Mr Kerr, but his daughter is my sons teacher here in Virginia, and I can say he surely raised a very fine, well respected daughter. If he was anything like her, I am sure he will be missed by many. May the good Lord bless you all.
