Please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss. We did not know them, however, we live on Cornwall Island and it sent a chill up our spines and our hearts broke when we heard of this horrible accident. This could have been us, it could have been our parents. We hope that this accident sends a message to those who are running from the law that it is not worth human lives. Our prayers go to all who have been affected by the loss of Edward and Eileen. Our sister in-law remembers Mr.Kassian, as a teacher and she spoke of him very highly. We can only imagine what a great loss this was. Our sympathies. Carolyn and John Francis

The death of mr. kassian has saddened me in the past few days. I remember meeting him 20 years ago when he became my 9th grade science teacher at massena central high school. ed was a good educator. he was one of the first teachers to work at the newly opened high school in 1959 -- and one of the last to retire from the old school. nobody every failed his classes. he acquired the nickname of "Easy Ed" in his later years of teaching. I mowed ed's lawn on main steet -- the location of his father's former store for 12 straight years. He was a regular at friend bill's snyder's house. it was predictable to know when ed would show up -- almost everyday at around 3:30 pm to have a drink with bill. he once told me, "john, this is my secret place. don't tell my wife!" but i'm sure mrs. kassian knew ed's mystery location. bill and ed spoke about politics and current events. it could get quite hot in debates. too hot for me. I have no idea who would win. ed also had a very good memory for people and places of massena's past. He was a wealth of information. He always supported my projects and was one of the first to acquite a book or a movie. I'm sure Bill is hurting just as much as me with ed's untimely passing. another one gone into my memories.

I was deeply distressed and saddened to learn of the tragic and unnecessary deaths of the Kassians. I can only imagine the terrible anguish their dear and wonderful children are suffering. My mother was very fond of Eileen as they were in the same guild at St.Johns.The entire Kassian family have had a profound impact on the Massena community. Mr. and Mrs Kassian shared a great heritage which they passed on to their family , and the village will be sadder for this loss. Dick Johnston Maryville Tn.

To the Kassian family, I was deep saddened to hear about the death of your parents, as a result of this tragic accident. I really enjoyed working with your mom at Bon Ton. She was a beautiful and elegant woman lady. She did not look her age at all. She could be a tough cookie when she wanted to. I say this with a smile. I used to see both of your parents at the food court eating together. I would always talk with your mom there. I will miss her very much. I lost my mom 4 years ago and my dad in 1993. I understand how hard things can be. Keep sticking together and you will get through. Take care.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Kassian's family on the tragic deaths of he and his wife. I graduated from MCS in 1962 and was a student in Mr. Kassian's Earth Science course. He was a great teacher and made the course very interesting and easy to learn. He encouraged me to participate in the science fair that year and I made several plaster of paris models of the various landforms we learned in class. I won a first place prize, but the biggest honor was when he asked me if I would leave them with him to use in his class instruction. Of course I did. My son's fiance is a teacher and we were discussing teaching while on a trip together last week. I told him the same story that I mentioned above as an example of a good teacher and one I remembered well. He said you should try to write to him. Two days later I read about the terrible accident. He definitely made a mark in the world in all the students he taught. Don Mattice Wilton, Maine

The day has come ~ All be it far too soon, I know, To surrender unto God This one that you loved so. No amount of words, No matter how be they wise, Can take away the pain When some one so special dies. Grief is such a personal thing We each accept in our own way. My heart can only guess What yours feels today. I am sorry for your sorrow. But, I do understand your tears. For, we all suffer parting If we've lived enough years. Try to remember, if you can, That, someday, you will, again, meet (They truly are waiting there) When we join them at Jesus' feet. I pray, in time, the tears will pass And a smile takes their place; As your heart begins to heal, By God's amazing grace. by Sandra Griffin Our thoughts are with the entire Kassian Family as you have always treated us as one of yours and in some way we are connected like a family.

My wife and I were deeply saddened at the untimely deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Kassian. Having grown up casually knowing Doug and Mike, and having had the fondly memorable experience of participating in Ed Kassian’s Earth Science class as a youth, I can say several things at this sad juncture in time. It is a true testament to an educator that so many people will remember him for the wonderful moments spent in his presence and for the true enthusiasm he instilled in his students for learning. This alone means that he will never be forgotten. It is a greater testament still, that as a community we were made richer by the company and grace of their presence, and now in this moment to feel as though we as a community are poorer as a whole for both of them to have been taken in this moment so tragically from us. Doug...Mike...your Mother and Father were both wonderful people. This is what we will remember in their passing. Our sincerest condolences to the whole Kassian Family.

I just received a phone call from an old friend of my mother's telling me of your great loss. I think we may have met many years ago, since Ed and my mother (Ardell Marashian Haronian) were first cousins. I am very sorry to hear of your tragic loss. Sincerely, Grace Haronian South Windsor, CT

Dear Sylvia, Mike, and Doug, I was so sad when I heard about the deaths of your mom and dad. Through figure skating, they were a constant presence in my childhood...all the way through to teenage years. They were always kind to me. Your mother particularly seemed to go out of her way to speak to me...always with a smile and a kind comment. She had such a vibrant personality, and attention from her gave me confidence. I know my dad was so fond of your parents too. I am so sorry for your loss, and I send my deepest sympathy. Sincerely, Maryanne MacKenzie
