CommentBill and I will always remember our dear Aunt Florence. Over the
years we were together for many happy occasions. She loved life and lived it to
the fullest through her family and friends. She was a very thoughtful and kind
person and both Bill and I will miss her. We pray for Gary and Candy and family
, and for Burke and Rhonda, her beloved family. Much Love, Cousin Janet and Bill

CommentMy dear Burke, Rhonda, Gary and Family,
How my heart was saddened to receive your phone call on Friday with the news of your mom's passing. Immediately my mind rushed to find words of comfort to a dear friend and spiritual son, but they seemed to catch in my throat... Your mom, Florence, was nothing short of an angel. She was the closest thing to a divine being here on earth that I have ever known. Her love and concern for the lives and spiritual growth of others was incomprehensible. She loved others with the same Passion that Christ Himself did when he walked this earth. She became God's messenger of hope to us. Her prayers for my entire family (Chet III, Christy, Carl and Bethany) have been continual and caring. She has "stood in the gap" for us in her Intercessory prayers for years.
I remember when I first met this gentle loving saint and her two handsome sons Burke and Gary, in 1970 Massena NY as my new bride, Joy and I, began our first pastorate in the Massena NY Corps. Her love for her children, her mother, her church and everyone was incredibly beautiful. I remember so many times pastorally visiting her in her home in Messina and coming away having being blessed so wonderfully by the joy and peace she exuberant for Christ.
During our 17 years in missionary service in Costa Rica and South America, we received inspirational and encouraging letters and as well as donations from Florence as she held us up in prayer. Her letters ALWAYS came at the right moment..
Our loss is heavens gain. This world has lost a beautiful women of God... she exemplifies all that Proverbs 31 describes as the Godly Women. Vs. 28 "Her Children arise and call her blessed...charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting BUT a women who fears the Lord is to be praised"... V.31 "Give her the reward she has earned..." She will be missed but NEVER forgotten. She is now safely in the arms of the Blessed Saviour whom she loved so dearly.
I will always cherish the wonderful memories of this women of God and a special moment that we met again in the summer of 2005 in Greensboro, NC. where we had a marvelous reunion and wonderful time seeing Burke and meeting Rhonda....
Joy and I will always remember Florence, and continue to hold Burke and Gary and families in our prayers. We love you and pray God's riches blessings and comfort upon you during this time of sorry but not loss for 'she is not her' she is with her Lord!!
Give our dearest regards to all our friends and friends of Florence's in Massena.
Major Chet (Today I celebrate 40 years as an officer and 40 years since I met Florence and the boys)

CommentDear Burke and Rhonda,
My first soldier:>) How we wish we could be with you at this time, but the miles
separate us. Let's keep it that way - only miles. Let's communicate more often
as your mother and I did.
I will probably be finding letters from your mother, Florence forever as I pack
and repack. Florence was like a second mother to me. She was such a godly woman.
Her words never failed to be sweet and full of wisdom. She challenged me to be
a better Christian woman. I will miss her a great deal.
Your mother was the one to take me to the hospital when I was to deliever Chet III.
She cared for me so tenderly! I will never forget that. Major had take you young
people to YP Councils! They couldn't find him at the hotel so I asked, "Did
you look in the basketball court?"
Your mother gave a donation to us every Christmas for our mission work - She has
a pig in Rwanda and a goat in Tanzania! She has many, many treasures laid up in
Heaven.
Be blessed! We love you both!

CommentI met Florence when I began work at the Massena Public Library in 1984. I found her to be a kind and caring lady. One day, shortly after I met her, I saw her at the Massena Rod and Gun Club all by herself with a brand new pair of cross country skiis. She told me that she had never skiied before so I had her follow me and gave her the necessary pointers to get her started. A few days later I found a tin of homemade fudge on my desk with a nice note thanking me for the ski lesson. It was nice to be so appreciated. After that Florence always made a point to talk to me when she saw me both in and out of the library. Her smile was contagious. I'm sure the family will miss her dearly and I am sorry for your loss. She was a genuinly nice person.
